Dr. Sevith Rao, MD, MEng, MBA is a physician & engineer and founder of one of the leading cardiac advocacy groups in the world. He received his MD degree with honors in several courses from Baylor College of Medicine and Rice University, and MBA and Masters in Biomedical Engineering from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business & Berkeley College of Engineering, with a concentration in venture capital & entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary coursework across UC Berkeley, Stanford and UCSF.

Sevith is a former founder & operator, including as the first medical lead for a Stanford based VC backed life sciences company, VC investor, and medical device inventor. Sevith has a passion for blending his background in the intersection of medicine, engineering, entrepreneurship and business to create meaningful solutions to the greatest issues facing healthcare today. He served as healthcare subject matter expert & venture capital advisor for Arrow Capital, a VC firm backed by Bow Capital, and sat on the Physician Advisory Board for a Chicago and Palo Alto based VC firm. Sishir Rao, MD

Dr. Sishir Rao, MD  is an Interventional Radiology (IR) attending physician at Massachusetts General Hospital / Mass General Brigham (MGB) and Faculty at Harvard Medical School. In this role, Sishir’s primary emphasis is on clinical Interventional Radiology/Endovascular Surgery. He performs the full spectrum of cutting edge vascular and non-vascular interventions at a variety of MGB academic and community hospitals. As Chief of Interventional Radiology at Mass General Brigham Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Quality Improvement Director at MGB Newton Wellesley Hospital, Sishir works with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and technologists to improve access and quality of IR care, areas of passion for him.

Sishir graduated from the leading Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology residency and fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School, where he had a faculty appointment as Clinical Fellow from 2013-2018.  Sishir received his MD degree with Honors from the Baylor College of Medicine and a BA in Health Sciences and Health Care Policy Management with Honors at Rice University and was a member of the Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program.

He is a former scientist affiliated with NASA on the Advanced Diagnostic Ultrasound in Microgravity Project (ADUM), investigating the effects of microgravity on Astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

Sishir is a co-founder of the Indian Heart Association (IHA) and also serves on the board of the Cardiovascular Subcommittee of the Bureau of Indian Standards, Ministry of Health in India. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the Asia Pacific Heart Association. Sishir was invited and served on the G20 non communicable diseases workgroup in 2023 along with Dr. Sevith Rao. He is a Past President of the Massachusetts Radiological Society Resident Fellow Section (MRS-RFS) and served as a member of the MRS Executive Committee from 2016-2018. He was also member of the City of Chelsea, MA Planning Board from 2016-2018.

He has an interest in entrepreneurship and start-ups, health economics and outcomes, quality metrics, value based imaging, and cardiac health prevention.  Sishir is passionate about global health and international outreach.  Feel free to connect with him on LinkedIn.
