When former World Heart Federation CEO Johanna Ralston and Indian Heart Association Founder Sevith Rao were invited to the same cardiac conference in New Delhi during summer 2014, little did they know that their paths would collide.
As it turns out, both individuals had close family members suffer from the same deadly disease. They found immediate synergy, discussing some of the common battles they faced while trying to raise awareness about cardiac disease on a global scale. The World Heart Federation (WHF) and Indian Heart Association (IHA) partnership was significant, and this was the first step towards unifying both organizations’ goal of tackling heart disease head first.
The Indian Heart Association is proud to be affiliated with the World Heart Federation. During the 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 World Heart Days, Indian Heart Association volunteers created hand made three dimensional World Heart Day posters, coordinated grass-roots campaigns, published newsletters, and coordinated online outreach. World Heart Day 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 were great successes and we hope to make a bigger impact in future World Heart Days!
