Sevith is a medical student in his final year of coursework at the Baylor College of Medicine and a 2014 graduate of Rice University, where he double majored in Health Sciences and Health Care Policy Management with bioengineering and premedical coursework. Sevith was the recipient of Rice’s Hermance Award, the highest distinction among graduating seniors in the Health Sciences program, recognizing seniors who have exhibited exemplary qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service during their undergraduate experience. Sevith was also nominated by Rice University for the Rhodes Scholarship in 2014.
Sevith is the Founder and Managing Trustee for the Indian Heart Association (IHA), a leading cardiovascular health NGO in India. Sevith was recently featured by The Economist for a case study exploring the impact of heart disease in Asia (http://hearthealth.economist.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/46/2017/05/Heart-Health-Asia-2017-Executive-Summary.pdf), and was also one of eight worldwide invited panel speakers for The Economist’s Heart Health in Asia Summit in 2017. Sevith was appointed by the Ministry of Health, Government of India to a Cardiovascular Subcommittee in the Bureau of Indian Standards. The IHA has conducted several free cardiac screening camps, featured in prominent Indian newspapers, and partnered with notable non-profits, consulting firms, and hospitals. Sevith has several peer-reviewed medical publications to date through research work collaborating with NASA researchers/Henry Ford Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, and Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Sishir Rao, MD
Dr. Sishir Rao is currently an Interventional Radiology attending physician at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Dr. Rao is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at BCM, and also serves as Director of Global Health and Community Outreach for the Department of Radiology. He is a 2017 graduate of the Radiology residency and 2018 graduate of the Interventional Radiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and had a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School as Clinical Fellow from 2013-2018. Dr. Rao was an Emergency Radiology attending at MGH from 2017-2018. He received his MD degree with Honors from the Baylor College of Medicine and a BA in Health Sciences and Health Care Policy Management with Honors at Rice University and was a member of the Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program. Dr. Rao is a co-founder of the Indian Heart Association (IHA) and also serves on the board of the Cardiovascular Subcommittee of the Bureau of Indian Standards, Ministry of Health in India. He is a Past President of the Massachusetts Radiological Society Resident Fellow Section (MRS-RFS) and served as a member of the MRS Executive Committee from 2016-2018. He was also member of the City of Chelsea, MA Planning Board from 2016-2018. Dr. Rao has an interest in health care start-ups, health economics and outcomes, quality metrics, value based imaging, and cardiac health prevention.
